The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season came to a stunning end with Paris Saint-Germain claiming their first-ever title in spectacular fashion — a crushing 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the final.

The match got off to a fast start, with Achraf Hakimi opening the scoring in the 12th minute. Just eight minutes later, Dué doubled PSG’s lead, giving the French side a comfortable advantage heading into halftime.

The second half continued in PSG’s favor. In the 63rd minute, Dué found the net again to complete his brace. Then, in the 73rd minute, history was made — Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored PSG’s fourth and became the first Georgian player ever to score in a Champions League final.

The final goal came in the 87th minute, when substitute Mayulu added his name to the scoresheet, sealing a remarkable 5-0 victory for the Parisian giants.

After suffering a heavy loss in the Champions League final, Inter Milan is preparing for significant changes. The top priority is resolving the coaching situation. According to reports from the Italian media, a meeting between the club's management and current head coach Simone Inzaghi is scheduled to take place within the next few hours to determine his future at the club.

It’s worth noting that Inzaghi has a lucrative offer on the table from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal. Many sources claim the 49-year-old is seriously considering leaving Inter.

In the event of Inzaghi’s departure, CEO Beppe Marotta is reportedly considering four potential replacements. The leading candidate is Cesc Fàbregas, currently the head coach of Como. Also on the shortlist are Cristian Chivu, Roberto De Zerbi, and Patrick Vieira.

As of now, Inter has not begun official negotiations with any of these managers. However, if Inzaghi decides to step down, discussions with the shortlisted candidates are expected to begin promptly.

A final decision regarding Simone Inzaghi’s future is expected within the next 24 to 48 hours. The decisive meeting between the coach and the club’s leadership is set to take place on June 3 in Milan.

With the conclusion of the Champions League season, it’s time to review the financial rewards earned by the participating teams. Let’s take a closer look at how the prize money was distributed throughout the competition.

First off, all 36 clubs that took part in the tournament collectively received €18.62 million just for participating.

When it comes to match results, teams earned €2.1 million for each win and €700,000 for every draw. Moving into the knockout stages, the payouts increased substantially: Round of 16 participants received €11 million, quarter-finalists €12.5 million, semi-finalists €15 million, and finalists earned €18.5 million.

Additionally, the higher a team’s final standing in the Champions League phase, the bigger their overall earnings. For example, Liverpool, finishing top in their group, took home €12.5 million, while the other teams in the top eight earned roughly €2 million less.

There are also smaller income sources that add up and impact the total figures.
